PrintInspire Federal Credit Union is pleased to introduce you to our 9th Bucks County “Teacher of The Year” finalist, Michael Zweig. Michael is in his 21st year of teaching. He’s been at Pine Run Elementary School for 15 years, and currently teaches 3rd grade.

Michael Zweig is a proud alumnus of Holy Family University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.  Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in music from Arcadia University, where he graduated with honors.  Michael previously taught in the Philadelphia School District, and at a charter school in Bensalem.

When he’s not in the classroom, Michael’s love of music keeps him busy writing scripts, lyrics and dance choreography for various third-grade musicals.  Beyond his musical interests, he is also a member of Pine Run’s Young Authors committee and a building coach for Infinite Campus, which is a grading and student information portal.

When asked about his favorite aspect of teaching, Michael says it is the close connection he makes with his young students.  “The mutual trust we develop creates a safety net of sorts for my students.  They aren’t afraid to try or learn something new because they know that I will be there to catch them when they fall.  The trust and bond also allows us to have fun and laugh while we are learning.  Making learning fun, even though it may be challenging work, is the key goal of my classroom, and without the bonds we create, this goal can never be met.” Michael knows the value of conveying to his students the combination of hard work, fun and personal experience in everything they do.

Congratulations to Michael Zweig and all 10 of the 2017 finalists. Be sure to read the spotlights on each of our ten finalists for Teacher of the Year on our blog and on our Facebook page.
