In partnership with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22
The local community has chosen their three finalists for Bucks County Teacher of the Year.
The three finalists for the 2016 Bucks County Teacher of the Year Award, presented by Inspire Federal Credit Union and the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22, have been chosen. On April 21, 2016, at the Inspire FCU Annual Members Meeting, one of the finalist will be named the 2016 Bucks County Teacher of the Year. This honor is awarded to a local educator each year.
“There aren’t too many people that can change the life of a student like an educator can,” said Jim Merrill, Inspire FCU’s President and CEO. “These three teachers, among many other teachers in this county, have successfully accepted the educational challenges inside a classroom, and their impact has extended far beyond the walls of a school.”
Over 11,000 votes were cast to choose the three finalists. The three teachers who received the highest number of votes, becoming the finalist are:
Michael Hogan – Teaches 7th & 8th grade Social Studies at Pennwood Middle School
Nicky Pennepacker – Teaches 9th grade English at Truman High School
Alexander C. Doman Jr. – Teaches 9th-12th grade Applied Engineering Technology/Green Energy at Bucks County Technical High School
To select the winner, a committee will evaluate and judge all three candidates submission material. The winner will receive $2,500 and an additional $1,000 donated to their school. The two runner-ups will both receive $1,000 and an additional $500 donated to their schools.
